Signs a Seller is Trying to Hide Something
Here’s the situation, imagine that
you have been searching day in and out for that perfect house and you are not
giving in to compromise and you find yourself your dream house only to later
find out that the house owner sold you not just the house but some unavoidable
lies too. The lies or perhaps the things the seller was trying to hide could
either be about the property within or the issues surrounding the property. But
how in your excitement of finding your dream house would you be able to carry
out the correct home inspections,
so don’t find yourself fretting over the purchase later?
Let’s
go through situations that may apply to you and your house and how you can deal
with it.
Traffic Situation of the Locality
Often seller would want to keep the
fact, that the locality has certain traffic jamming problems even after peak
hours. Or if the house is located in a busy area with nearing commercial sites,
educational centers or conventional centers chances are every time the roads
are diverted all the traffic re-routes from your street. Due diligence would
help here.
Security Situation of the Neighborhood
Now what seller would want to let
you know is the reason why they themselves are shifting from this house to another
is due to the security issue concerned with the area. Might be that the house
owners found themselves facing burglary, mugging or perhaps a gang war issue. Visiting
the area a few times might give you the idea of the locality, and often talking
to the locals will help you find out any relevant stories you might want to
know to help you with your decision.
Neighbor Trouble
In case the seller is making the
shift because the neighbors are loud, animus or uncaring, how would you know if
there is any sort of neighbor trouble on the block or the blocks nearby? Make
sure you ask the house seller the right questions and again due diligence will
serve you the best.
Dark and Light
Normally when you walk in as a
potential buyer the home owner will make sure that all the lights are on in the
house and even the darkest corners appear bright and lit. However, there may be
several reasons why the house may not be as bright as it appears with the
lights on. For instance, the house is surrounded by too many trees hindering
the entrance of direct sunlight or the window frame is of such a protruding
design that it creates darkness inside even on a bright sunny day. Other issue
may concern excess of light which you have no control of, like a street lamp or
the neighboring house’s porch light entering your room directly disturbing your
need for dimmed lights. Make sure you look around for all these things before
you plan on buying the property.
Damaged Deck
It might be that what you are
seeing is a freshly painted deck but what you may not know is that the seller
may have masked the damage on it. The cause of the damage may have been from
wood rot, water damage, splinters or any other issue that actually required
deck replacement or at least repairs and not a cover up by the paint on it.
This is something you may easily miss that is why the home inspections team is
needed to professionally inspect and evaluate the house for you.
